The 2012-13 Competition
84 new appointments as Queen’s Counsel, from 183 applicants, were announced on Wednesday 27 February 2013.

Applications for the award of Queen’s Counsel in 2012-13
Applications closed on Wednesday 18 April 2012.
In all 183 applications have been received. This compares to 214 applications in 2011, 251 applications in 2010, and 275 applications in 2009.

The 2011-12 Competition
88 new appointments as Queen’s Counsel, from 214 applicants, were announced on Wednesday 29 February 2012.

Please note that there is an error in the QCA press release. As stated in the Panel’s report, 2 solicitor advocates were appointed in 2010-11 out of 5 solicitor applicants, not 1 as mentioned in the press release.
The Silk Ceremony was held on Friday 30 March 2012.
The last date for applicants to submit a complaint about the 2011-12 competition is Monday 30 April 2012.
In all 214 applications have been accepted by the Panel. This compares to 251 applications in 2010, 275 applications in 2009 and 247 in 2008.
Interviews for the 2011-12 competition concluded in November 2011. The Selection Panel interviewed about 70% of applicants.

The names of the new Queen’s Counsel, who were successful in the 2010-11 competition, were announced on Tuesday 1st March 2011.
120 Queen’s Counsel were appointed from 251 applicants.
